Skye. Melinda May. FitzSimmons. Agent Coulson's elite team will join official Marvel comics continuity with SHIELD #1, written by Mark Waid and featuring a rotating series of artists. At Marvel's Comic-Con panel, Waid described it as "This is S.H.I.E.L.D. the TV show, the unlimited budget edition."

But besides an unlimited "budget," Coulson and his team will also have unlimited access to the Marvel universe, meaning guests stars galore. "So far — and we're in the early stages, so don't hold me to these — but we've mapped out stories teaming Coulson and his agents with anyone from the Vision and Baron Mordo to Two-Gun Kid and Iron Man to Daredevil and She-Hulk to Hawkeye and Rocket Raccoon, taking place in the Savage Land, in Lemuria, in the Everglades, on other worlds and even in other times," Waid told Comic Book Resources.

The comic, which debuts in December, will focus on a specific adventure each issue (or two), much like a TV episode — where Coulson picks the specific superheroes he needs for each mission, an easy way to constantly change which heroes Coulson and his team are paired with. Most importantly, according to Waid, Fitz gets a helper monkey.
