Two Girls Fight Bratwurst Nazis in the First Trailer for Kevin Smith's Yoga Hosers

Kevin Smith’s early work inspired a generation. Films like Clerks and Chasing Amy set the tone for the ‘90s independent scene and helped launched the careers of actors like Ben Affleck. In recent years, his films have gotten increasingly weirder, and it feels like it’s all been leading up to Yoga Hosers.

Yoga Hosers stars the director’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp as two Canadian convenience store clerks. These clerks don’t talk about Star Wars, though—they talk about boys, Instagram, do yoga and end up fighting an army of Bratzis, a mix of bratwurst and nazis. It sounds insane and reviews out of Sundance labeled it that and more. “To shackle two lovely and promising teenage actresses to material this dreadful could be reasonably construed as an awfully expensive form of child abuse,” said Variety. Ouch. It can’t be that bad, can it? See for yourself, because the first trailer is here.

This trailer doesn’t make the film look quite as dire as all those reviews suggest, but it’s still just 100 seconds of a full-length movie, which mostly hides the plot of the film. Instead, this trailer focuses on the cameos, like Johnny Depp himself, Justin Lin, Tony Hale, and others. There’s little character or story here. Expectations are low.
