Lumberjanes Is Being Turned Into A Live-Action Movie!

Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson, and Brooke Allen’s Lumberjanes was one of our favourite comics of 2014 — and now, it might end up becoming one of our favourite films too. Fox is planning to turn the comic into a movie, and it’s bagged The Munchkin’s Will Widger to write the script.

Lumberjanes, penned by Stevenson, Ellis, and Watters, with art by Brooke Allen, follows five young girls investigating supernatural goings-on at Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types (look, with a name like that, do I really have to explain what a goddamn delight this comic is?) — and was originally planned as a miniseries for publisher Boom! Studios before it became a runaway success that spun off into an ongoing, Eisner-award-nominated series.

It would’ve been amazing to see the comic get adapted into an animated series á la Gravity Falls or what have you, but the idea of seeing the Lumberjanes on the big screen is just as enticing. There’s no further details other than Widger being on the script, so for now, we’re just going to be super excited about the idea of a fun, female-focused adventure movie with supernatural shenanigans. What’s not to love?
